Kristen Lorentzen

I am primarily focused on making non-objective mixed media artwork as a way to formally and intuitively consider subtle color relationships, variations of grids, and the juxtaposition of reduced geometric forms. In addition to traditional art materials, I am currently exploring the use of recycled materials, particularly cardboard and single-use shopping bags, in collage, weaving, painting, and knitting in order to reuse and repurpose them. I began to focus seriously on my art practice in 2013 after moving from Washington, DC to the foothills of the Alps in southern Switzerland.
